Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
